Welcome to the general information page for the Giro dello Scorpione 2015.
What is the Giro dello Scorpione?
The Giro dello Scorpione is a fan-organized cycling holiday for Castelli fans (and cyclists who wear a piece of Castelli kit) which will consist of several bike trips starting from the same “base camp” in Balestrate (PA).
So what kind of views can you expect when cycling in Sicily? How about these…!

The Giro dello scorpione is not a race, but a fun event where Castelli fans can meet other cyclists and enjoy some quality time on the bike together. Besides cycling in a lovely, hilly area with spectacular sea views (for more photos of the area, check out this blog!), you will have the possibility to visit several beautiful places of interest and you can enjoy the excellent Sicilian cuisine!

So if you like / love cycling, you own a Castelli kit, you like to meet new people/make new friends and you always wanted to visit “la bella Sicilia”, then the Giro dello Scorpione is something for you!
The accommodation:
Our base camp will be the Borgo delle Olive, a beautiful and characteristic building with luxury apartments and a large swimming pool. Visit this page for more information and lots of pictures.

Bike rental:
If you don’t want to bring your own bike, I can organize a rental bike for you. I’m very happy with the fact that the bike rental is powered by Ridley bikes, so you’ll have several excellent road bikes to choose from!

The following can be organized as well:
- Transfers from and to the airport of Palermo or Trapani. Both airports are close to Balestrate (respectively a 20 minute and a 40 minute drive).
- Car rental
- Catering: We can organize lunch and dinner in restaurants in the area.
- Excursions: we can offer excursions to several places of interest, like Palermo and enjoy some lovely Sicilian cuisine while we’re there! If some of you prefer to come with their partner and children, we can also organize a transfer for them with a possibility to meet up with the cyclists. Example: Erice is a lovely medieval town situated 750 meters above sea level. The cyclists will go and ride to this town, while the partners and children are brought there by bus. We can then all meet up for lunch in Erice!

NB The minimum number of participants is 10. Eurobici has a limited number of rental bikes, so don’t wait too long to book!
