  3. Hi Stefan,

I’m thinking of planning a cycling holiday with myself and about 10 friends from May 16th to the 26th of May.

We are thinking of flying to Palermo / Catania then spending the 10 days cycling around Sicily. Would you have any suggestions of the best areas of sicily to explore?

We were initially thinking of staying in 3 different areas of Sicily and spending 3 / 4 days cycling around each area before moving onto the next area.

    Many Thanks

    Toby

    • Ciao Toby,

There are many lovely areas in Sicily: my area (Golfo di Castellammare, between Palermo and Erice), the Madonie mountains (near Cefalù), the Baroque area of Noto, Ragusa, Modica, etc. Mount Etna is also a nice cycling challenge. Sicily is a large island, so there’s just too much to sum up…

  4. Hi Don,
My husband and I are thinking about visiting Sicily for the first time in late April to early May. We would like to see the island by bike and not rent a car. We have enjoyed self-guided trips where we stay in a different town every night and bike to the next destination with the tour company moving our luggage. Is this the best way to see Sicily or is it better to stay in one or two places and do day trips? Do you know of any companies that offer trips like this?
    Thanks,
    Candice

    • Ciao Candice,

Sicily is a large island, so you’ll have to choose which part to visit by bike. Solebike.it offers several self-guided trips.

Have a great holiday in Sicily!

      Don

  5. Don provided me with invaluable guidance in planning a day-trip bike adventure for my parents. I needed a custom experience—something that the major bike-tour companies just couldn’t provide—and it was such a relief after many wasted hours of googling and emailing companies to find Don, a local expert with a deep knowledge of the area. Not only was the end result just what I needed, the process was a pleasure as well: Don promptly answers emails, and all communication was exceptionally clear.

    Thank you Don!

    • You’re welcome Claire, haven a great holiday!
